About
What is Toys ‘n’ Tucker?
Toys ‘n’ Tucker is an annual initiative through which supporters are able to provide food and gifts for ANGLICARE’s Christmas hamper program. It is run during November with participants including churches, youth groups, schools and businesses from throughout the greater Sydney and Illawarra areas.
The aims of Toys ‘n’ Tucker are to:
- Provide Christmas gifts for the children of families who turn to ANGLICARE for help at Christmas.
- Provide food for distribution to those in need during the high-demand Christmas and school holiday period.
- Strengthen partnerships with churches, youth groups, schools and businesses as we work together to share the joy of Christmas with those who would otherwise go without.
Who participates?
In 2009 hundreds of organisations- churches, youth groups, schools and businesses – registered to participate in the Toys ‘n’ Tucker program.
Where do the donations go?
Donations of non-perishable food items and children’s toys are taken to our warehouse where they are sorted and packed before being sent to our services for distribution to individual families. The sorting and packing process is carried out by a team of dedicated volunteers from churches, schools and businesses.
The hampers are distributed through ANGLICARE’s Emergency Relief and Family Support programs which assist thousands of needy families and individuals throughout Sydney and the Illawarra.
